Make memories to Ceres It was brilliant, always wanted to do the trip, was a Wonderful birthday gift, what better way to go than by train to Ceres Market but if you are going to drink alcohol on the train, you may need transport to get home. The staff were fantastic, the train also stopped for a smoke break. Went through Sir Lowry Pass village, another place I so much wanted to see. Was a long day but well worth it.

Terrific train trip from Cape Town! The volunteers who run the excursion are exceptional! Their service, the historical ambience of the train, and the never-ending vistas make for a truly memorable day. Ceres Rail to Elgin should be on everyone's 'must-do' list!

Memorable Day on the Train The trip was great. Comfortable and a great experience. We stayed in one of the lounge carriages. Very cozy seats and good views both sides of the train. Staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Would certainly do this trip again!

Good times with CRC My friends and I had a great time on board!, I’m sure some will say there can be improvement, but to me the trip was fun and the staff where really nice. we enjoyed the beautiful views and the experience of being on the train, our seating was comfortable and you can open a window and enjoy the outside. The market at the destination is really good.

The volunteer staff are very friendly and helpful and full of smiles. The people along the way all wave as we pass. A truly wonderful experience. The Elgin market has a lovely atmosphere and is busy, but with lots of yummy food and drink options. The only suggestion I have for families booking a trip with children, is to take something to keep them busy on the trip back 😉

A lovely day out, relaxing scenic, train ran on time,and clean . Food from the shop on the train was fresh .

👀😱 A faceless Clare could be a distressing sight for some but it’s only temporary and for good reason. You may have noticed, but we're taking a break this coming weekend from any trips because we have some planned maintenance to do on our lovely, leading lady. ❤️👨‍⚕️ The "heart" of the steam locomotive is it’s boiler- the apparatus that utilises the heat from the fire to convert water into steam. In Clare's case, she is currently having open heart surgery to replace her bottom three rows of boiler tubes. 🚂🛠 In preparation for this, her "face" or smokebox cover, has been removed to allow for extraction of the approximately 6m long tubes, to be replaced with brand new ones. This process is likely to take about a week, whereafter the tubes are welded in place by a coded welder. Then the Magnetic Particle Inspection will be carried out and the boiler will be given a hydraulic test under the watchful eye of the boiler inspector. 👌🙂 She’ll be ready to go and back to full steam ahead soon and we can’t wait to welcome you aboard once Clare has finished with her careful maintenance. https://www.ceresrail.co.za/
